Preserve, restore, inspire: The mission of the Musée BAUD
It was in a home environment balanced by both farming and craftsmanship that three brothers were born and raised: Frédy born in 1915, Robert in 1917, and Auguste in 1924.
In 1946, in addition to their farming business, the brothers formed an association and in 1956 they began restoring antique music boxes.
Then on October 2, 1955 a long-time dream became a reality with the opening of their museum.
Why was the BAUD Museum Association founded ?
In order to preserve a unique collection of antique musical boxes, automaton and phonographs, the BAUD Museum in l'Auberson (Switzerland) solicits the support of all people wishing to preserve this beautiful cultural heritage from the Sainte-Croix area.
For more than 40 yeards the museum has been self-supporting. Today, the new operator had to repurchase the collection in order to maintain its continuity and presence in l'Auberson.
As a consequence, this transfer has generated a greater financial burden.
We kindly appeal to your generosity for preserving, restoring, safeguarding and revitalising a fascinating industrial, artisanal and cultural heritage.
Our association is open to all.
As a member, you will not only have free access to our museum you will also receive, on a regular basis, a member list and a free copy of our newsleter informing you about the evolution of the Museum, and articles making you better acquainted with our collection items.
